I decided I would try using future for my gloss coat. To spray it through my airbrush should I just thin it 1/1 with water?

Some say you don't need to thin it, but I thin it. Water will cause it to take forever to dry. Try denatured alcohol it's a better alternative and thin it about 60:40. Windex also works as a thinner. Don't worry about the blue color of Windex it won't show when thinned and sprayed.

Well - I'll be the one to say - Yea - You don't absolutely need to thin it. Its a personal thing. I've never thinned it, but if Twisted has - I know it'll work.
I guess its up to you.

Clear glossy, in my view ideal as a base for selective washes...

Use a long hair, soft paintbrush to apply it. I always use it pure without thinning

Future gives you a gloss coat. In order to get a flat coat, you need to add a little tamiya acrylic flat base.

Thanks...... I went ahead and put on the decals. I was using MM Dark Sea Blue (for an F4U-1D Corsair) and it seemed glossy enough and it was. Anyways I will always be able to use this information in the future (please excuse the pun). By the way, when I used MicroSet and MicroSol on Tamiya decals, the decals would wrinkle up at first which forced me to apply many coats. It all turned out fine, nice and flat on the bird, but some slight silvering. Anyone else have this happen?

It don´t need to be thinned. In one ocation I airbrushed it but I didn´t obtain a soft glossy finish. Now I always brush it and works fine.

USMC0321, the silvering that happens after you applied the MicroSet and MicroSol, is for the most part normal. Just apply another "protective" coat of Future and the sivering should go away.
Let us know what happens.

Greets Folks,
I have awful luck with Future but am still using it. I've shot it straight and thinned as much as 50/50. PSI 15-50. Many thin mistings do the trick.
Fortunately, I have discovered that ammonia removes Future almost instantly, without affecting my Polly Scale/Model Master/Tamiya.

Hi Kencelot
That's neat to know! I've ended up scrapping some decals because I thought the Future would just preserve the silvering for all time!!
Cheers
