I was thinking today and realized that it is the 66th anniversary of the first raid on the ball bearing plant in Schwienfurt and the Messerschmitt factories at Regensburg. Thought I would post a photo of the second raid made in October. The time was different, but the image was probably the same.
It took tremendous courage for the American fliers to fly into that malestrom of flak and fighters. It also took courage for the German opponents, who, although on the wrong side of history, displayed amazing courage as well flying into the teeth of the machine guns of the flying fortresses! Let us never forget what happened. Just a thought. Russell

I can't imagine flying into that even once. They had to do it over and over again. We take a lot for granted because of what earlier generations went through. Thanks for the reminder.
