hi all,

i've got a couple on the bench at the moment and i thought i'd do some progress shots...

eduard sopwith camel F.1 1/48
i was going to use this with some aftermarket decals but i'm not sure what colour scheme i'll do it in now.

and

eduard Morane-Saulnier type N 1/48
i bought this specifically to learn how to do rigging,as its a mono plane its slightly easier to rig even though it does have alot of wires all going to the same places.

You are off to a great start Paul !

Haven't built the camel yet but the MS is a very lovely kit . Just falls together and the rigging is very easy to do on her . Mark has an excellent way of doing the rigging . Have a look in the Pfalz D.IIIa dual build thread . Very simple and not complicated .

Looking forward to more progress .......................

Excellent Paul! Its great to see you chipping in with some build images. Which issue is the Camel? The will Morane be French, British, Russian?

hi terri,

i had a look at the dual build, great stuff. i actually prefer your way of doing the rigging with the buckles etc,if it all goes wrong its easier to start again and i already have some "bobs buckles"...if i can find them.
by the way love the pre shading, fiddily but worth the effort.

thanks stephen,

the camel is eduard no. 8057,i got quite a supprise when i opened the box,i wasn't expecting that much plastic for what it cost! great value for the money.

the morane will be in french markings with the red nose, its NOT the profipack kit so i'm not sure on what is different between the 2 kits but i like it.

Nice work so far Paul, both look good builds and I'll watch your progress with interest.

I have Eduard's F.1 kit no 8056 waiting along with others for the up and coming Camel vs Dr.I campaign.

hi,
the only problem i had was with the tail unit,i glued the tail skid and support struts in place using their marks in the plastic and then found i couldn't get the rudder in place. so i've had to trim the bottom of the rudder a bit. apart from that it went together really well.

ok,another little update,
my plan to just do a "little" preshading went totally wrong and i've ended up masking all the aircraft...

not sure when i'll get to spray the preshading as i'm in the middle of re building my garage into some sort of workroom and i'm away all weekend,so probably sometime late next week.

windsock datafile 58,its hard to find alot of detail on these aircraft.
its not major shading, just enough to give it a bit of form.

Nice neat masking Paul . I would agree with that finding ref's for this bird is hard enough . Took me a while to find the datafile . I had the same trouble with the tail skid and ended up making my own for it . Look forward to your next up date .

Cheers !
