Very nice, clean paint job ,but if you don't mind theres some CONSTRUCTIVE critisicm I would like to make.........the supercharger should be more of a brown color and it should be a single piece. However this one thing can be fixed, and I must say your plane looks fantastic!

The P38 looks very nice, is it a 1/72 or 1/48 scale kit?

I have a few of those Academy '38 s too.I built quite a few,and was careful getting the booms on and had no noticable gaps.for the turbos,a dark rust would replicate how they weather. (++) (++)

I actually had a similar experience with the one I built from Academy. I didn't need or use any putty on the booms at all, difficult areas were getting the nose to fit together, using a TON of weight to get it to sit right, and getting the gear doors attached. Other than that, the kit was pretty straightforward. I did use a True Details cockpit set on mine...
Looks good so far, can't wait to see the finished product.

Gee nice little birdy, another suggestion on the Turbines....Tamiya xf-34 is metalic brown for their motorcycle kits, if you can get some and wask it with a little black it'll come out nicley!!! just a suggestion. the rest is beautiful STUG

Hi Sweatydogz
She's looking great! :-) Can I join Bender in the queue to learn how you did the seatbelts - they're really neat!
Looking forward to seeing her finished... what will the markings be?
All the best

club foot stikes again...................... well me and my size 9s.
Tonight I thought i would start on the canopy, started to mask when i dropped it on the floor and stood on it

small pieces of plastic everywhere OOPS
So now i'm a bit miffed
I have a couple of options though, bin the whole lot & start agian, try to scratch build a new one, or scratch (no pun intended) it up to experience and start a new project.
The later sounds good to me............

It´s a real good model (and I particularly love it...).
I really liked the seat belts, they´re very real...
Keep up the excellent work and keep us updated!

No, no, don't despair, sweatydogz. There are after-market canopies for that bird.
www.greatmodels.com has one from squadron, sqt9607, at a mere $2.40. There appear to be limited quantities, but if you don't feel like scratchbuilding one, you can buy your way out of trouble cheap (sez the lawyer).

Hi Sweatydogz,
The P-38 is looking great !!! Have you been to see the link to Glacier Girl?
http://www.thelostsquadron.com
It's the P-38 that was pulled out of a icecap in Greenland back in the 1990's. Hope you enjoy the site.

A scratchbuilt canopy? Man, that is hardcore. How does one even do such a thing? My hat is off to anyone who even tries. Good luck.

:-) sweatydogz, don't give in on this, send off to the importer (Toyway, I think) and ask for a new canopy. Tell them you broke the one in the kit. You might have to pay for it or they may just send you a new one. Better thin ditching what is going to be one great bird :-)
