Here is the 1/72 kit from Academy. Built straight from the box and painted with White Ensign Paints and weathered with Promodeller Washes, something I am most impressed with, and oil paints.
There are areas that are in need of improvement but practice makes perfect.

Veri nice model!
to me the canopy looks a bit strange (narrow?), but that might be because I am more into 48 scale models
all the best

Thanks Steffan. The canopy does 'pinch' a bit at the bottom which probably makes it seem thin.

Very nice n neat! I agree about the canopy looking not quite right. I'd like to see it next to a Revell MkII Hurricane and see if theres a difference.
How did the kit build up? Were there any problems? I've built several Revell Hurricanes and I'm curious about how they would compare as the Revell kits are reasonably nice.
thanks
Mike

Thanks Mike. It would also be interesting to see how it lines up against the forthcoming Airfix Hurricane. In general the build was fine. No major issues. The only poor bit was the decals, which as you can see they silvered a little bit and their fregister is not great.

Even the decals aren't the worst you've ever seen! Airfix Hurricane you say, in 1/72? Do you know which mark it will be?
thanks

Mike it is supposed to be a MkIIc/d though there are rumours that it will include Sea Hurrican parts instead of the d bits.

Thats a shame. I'm missing a decent MkI and MkIV!

Nice build Ross. Very realistic appearance for this scale- it is easy for the panel washes and other weathering to look over-done in 1/72. Did you use any setting agents on the transfers?

Thanks Ben. Yes I used Micro Set and Sol but to no avail.

Hmmm... I've never heard good things about Academy transfers... makes me a bit nervous for my Typhoon (though I'm only using the kit's roundels).
I'd like to make a night-intruder Hurricane Mk.IIC some day....

The transfers on my Academy Typhoon were fine. The white on the invasion stripes is a bit transparent but thats easily fixed.
