As a builder of things with fixed wings, and never having built a helicopter, I come to you for some advice. I have been asked to build a specific Royal Navy helicopter as flown by my late father during operation Musketeer (landing 45 commando, Royal Marines, at Port Said). According to his log book this was a Whirlwind 22, serial WV221. I have been unable to find a kit that I could use as a basis for this machine and wondered if anybody here knew of something I could use. I'm not too worried about scale, though I am more accustomed to working in 1/48 and 1/32 I'll have a go at anything.

Airfix had a 1/72 ofthis helicopter and there are several on E-bay right now:
.
Revell had a couple versions in 1/48 (though these might have been "box scale") in hte 50's .
There are a couple of the float versions on E-bay as well.
In any case, you'd need to do some more research for colors and markings,

Thanks very much for your reply. I shall get daughter number two, our ebay expertine, on the case. I have several of my father's photographs as references and am not averse to making my own decals so if I can get my hands on a kit I should be able to make a decent representation of his aircraft.
Thanks again
Cheers
