Just finished this one. Used Eduards photo etch flaps, pre coloer interior, and exterior set. has a few problems of my own making. Enjoyable build overall.

A really nice build indeed. Can you tell me what colors you used? Would it be 65 on the bottom and 72/73 on top? Really like the Henschel 293 guided missiles hanging from the wings. Really nice work. Russell

Hi Russel, and thanks. I used 72/73 on top and 76 on the undersurfaces. Had it painted and decaled when I found out it should have been 65. As with the Ju290 I posted a few days ago, considering this one a test build.

Nice work.

I don't believe the early Condors had the ship radar on them, does anyone know what variant first adopted them, or were they retro-fitted to existing aircraft?

Thanks. Captain Eric Brown's book, "Wings of the Luftwaffe", has a picture of this aircraft, a C-8, with the radar, on page 14, and a close up of the array on page 15. I'm not sure which variant first had the radar, but pictures od C-3's and -4's don't show it installed.

Thanks, I am reading Clay Blair's Hitler's U-Boat War, and he is very pointed in his criticism of the Luftwaffe's failure to exploit radar technology in general, and the very low results achieved by Condors detached to help the U-Boat war.

Is there a quick overview of the differences between the various Condor variants? I am interested in the kit for an Early War version, and would not want to have to make extensive modifications.

Hi Mark,

that's one impressive looking model - congratulations on a superb build. Especially like the PE (?) radar aerials...how difficult was that to install ? and to perhaps echo Bill's question, which references did you find the most helpful ?

the photo etch wasn't all that difficult to install. It's fragile, but not difficult. th eonly reference I really had was the book I mentioned, plus what I could find on the net.
