This is the build I'm doing for the campaign , I didn't take any pic's of the cockpit construction ( wasn't really in the mood ) Any way this so far is where the project stands . The stitching was replace on the underside with PE giving it a better appearance . Fuselage still awaits it's white paint and then I can start all the masking of the stripes . The streaking still needs a fine spray of tamiya smoke . The engine still requires some work , glueing the push rods and weathering . Other details have been sprayed such as all struts , wheels , rudder and that's about it .

A little more progress is added to this project . The other day the fuselage was sprayed white , it gets a coat of future . Now the black stripes will be sprayed .

I must say , i really like how Eduard has up date their manchine guns in newer kit's . Makes lining up the jackets better and with better support .

I have hit a small snag in the build though . Are the mod/bands carried under the fuslage as well ? In the ref I have it only shows the two fuselage sides and top surface but not the underside .

I'm very interested in your build, Terri. I have several 1/48 and 1/72 Dr.I's to build. It's nice to see someone tackle them before they make it to my workbench. Especially someone as talented as you.

When you start adding the bands you will get more responses. But to help out here the best indication is that the bands were not carried on the fuselage underside. See my 1:48 version.

The black bands have been sprayed last night and removed the masking this morning and to my surprise they turned out very well with only a few touch up's . on the down side though I now have to respray the under side of the fuselage light blue . I had it sprayed white for the bands , which don't belong there atfter all . I will have pic's up later tonight .

Thanks Carl , I used Stephens thread on streaking 101 as a guide and used acrylic's to do it .
I know there should be more bands on the wing , but factions don't do well with me . I do like the over all effect of it . It looks really cool !

Terri, the stripes look super clean- did you use any special techniques while masking, like over-spraying the edges of the tape with the base colour, or clear?

Those PE bits on the engine look very fiddly to get aligned and joined to each cylinder.

Nothing special was used at all . Just Tamiya tape burnished down with a q-tip . On the PE part for the engine there is a fitting slot for it on the plastic part which didn't fit very well so this tab was cut off and I used a slow setting superglue to give time to angle the push rods up . Sad in some ways for only about 1/4 of this can be seen from the back side of the engine .

As the glue dries' this is what is done . Lower wing mounted , middle wing , gun decking , gun's , engine , cowl and internal struts . crash pads . Pic's up in the morning

Okay here are some pic's of the assembly stage so far of where I left off . starting to look like a plane now .

Looking great Terri- the stripes are even more striking when contrasted with the streaked lower wings. The PE guns look so real.

Glad that you are enjoying the build so far For a kit out of box it is very well detail and no real troubles with the assembly so far .

Ben you should see it now with the top wing mounted ! I was ready to snap some pic's but I notice a finger print on the cowl !! Not good , so I had to repaint the cowl and just waiting for the paint to try . Pics will be up this morning some time .

Now that's looking very nice, very very nice.... I love the streaking, and will check out your methods soon. Wonderful work as always Terri

My effort is coming along but is suffering the ever present more parts than the kit came in Syndrome. Damn those 1/32 plans in the Jagdstaffeln book... finding the tail plane chopped and extended and the Elevator cut into 4 and filletted with Pcard, the rudder cut & reshaped.

Here is some more progress done on her , she's on her legs now !

















Once the touch-ups are done on the under carriage , time for dull coat and some weathering . Paint the prop and to the control lines along with the rigging .

Here are the pic's of the finished build . The stand I made out of scrap plastic and yes it does look a little on the fun off balance side but I like it !

Nice work Terri. I almost decided to do the dual combo Dr.I for this campaign, but everyone seemed to be doing Dr.I types, so i did the Camels (that's just the way the i am!).

Great work Terri- looks so cool! The prop looks very realistic- I now know how hard it is to paint these laminated props. Is it missing the foot-hold for the pilot on the port side? Super-duper build!

Yes Ben , it is missing the foot step . It was lost to the carpet monster while being moved from the work bench to the kitchen table for pic's . ( best place in the house for light when the sun is shinning ) I have made a new one for it already .
