As all of you must know, emulating the effect that the sun has on an airplane that has been overexposed to it in an arid climate (ww2 african campaign) is big deal. I dont have experience doing it but I have heard it is pretty difficult and there are several techniques to achieve this. All of the techniques seem to have their cons, therefore I ask to please explain which is the best technique. The airplane that I plan to use the technique on is a 1/48 bf109E7 JG27 .
Thanks for your help (++) B H (++)

Hi BH
Have a look at Weathering Model Aircraft - a great Feature by David Aungst. It covers pretty much everything... :-)
The method I've used quite successfully is to spray a VERY thin top-coat of off-white (either just thinned or mixed with varnish) after decalling is complete. This should be so thin as to be almost pure thinners or varnish and built up gradually. It "bleaches" the paint and decals to give a uniform effect. Try it on scrap first to be on the safe side... :-)
Looking forward to seeing the finished model.
All the best

:-) My method is similar to Rowans but I use Medium Sea Grey, off white might be better. I only spray on to the top of the fuselage and top of the wings. This makes the affect look better. It is important that you spray over decals, as markings would fade as well :-)
I have a desert Ju 87 and a Pacific Curtis Helldiver and F4U-1 Corsair nearing completion, all have recieved this treatment. The Corsair is on the RRB :-)
