It belongs to a major US air carrier that will go nameless, though I will say I boarded it in Atlanta, GA. I do not know when it was last painted, but checking the data plate (a fetish of mine as I board an airliner) I noted the bird is only 11 years old.
No, that is not soot, nor ice, nor any other foreign oxidation--it is the weathered paint. But my main item of interest, a relief for any of us who ever accidentally got a fingerprint on our freshly painted model, is what is in the red circle--a footprint!!!
