No, this is not a wing of a model laughed out of a show as being over-weathered, or for a poor paint finish. This is a 1/1 scale B767 I rode in recently.

It belongs to a major US air carrier that will go nameless, though I will say I boarded it in Atlanta, GA. I do not know when it was last painted, but checking the data plate (a fetish of mine as I board an airliner) I noted the bird is only 11 years old.

No, that is not soot, nor ice, nor any other foreign oxidation--it is the weathered paint. But my main item of interest, a relief for any of us who ever accidentally got a fingerprint on our freshly painted model, is what is in the red circle--a footprint!!!

As is oft cried in model railroading,

that ain't prototypic!!

My airliner wings look better than that photo that's for sure. Maybe I am too careful with my paint jobs? Russell

P.S. Is this an example of our models being painted better than the real item?

Well............................I guess it's not as bad as seeing a big ol' blood stain on the wing.........or a bunch of duct tape.
