Hey Magnus, great job on the camo. I did a similar thing with my G50 in the Made in Italy campaign and it came up OK to me. No more masking this type of camo, that's for sure.
Very nice build mate, I love it !!
Cheers, D

great build Magnus can't wait to see the finished model! i've got AZ's spiteful kit and it suffers from some of the same problems namely the wing root join, also the interior is sparse and basic as well, which is disappointing considering the retail price in the UK. the spiteful set me back £17.99. with no resin or PE! but keep up the good work mate and Merry christmas. Thanks for encouragement and kind words! I've been holiday-busy and slow in answering lately.
Nearing completion now!
Decals are on and some weathering and touch-ups have been done!
Decals worked very well, nothing to complain about there!

Hej Magnus!
That Spitfire looks very nice. Well done!
I'm thankful for seeing this build. I almost bought me one recently. I'm glad I didn't...
I think I'll stick with the good old Airfix Spit.
Once again, excellent work!
Andreas

Thanks for telling me Andreas, I feel a lot better now !Hej Magnus!

I have made an almighty mess of that canopy! I never got the one I made myself to fit properly and frankly I was so fed up with messing around with casting and vacuum forming that I went ahead with the rest of the model instead. Without any solution in sight for the canopy trouble!
Well, here I am now. With a quite good-looking (if I may say so myself) Spitfire without a canopy. Quite useless actually!
I managed to make the rear glazing by bending a piece of heated plastic over the spine and I also managed to glue it in place almost without ruining any of the paintwork. The main canopy and windscreen were then stolen from the Aeroclub Spitfire Prototype conversion. This will not render an exactly correct windscreen but since the alternative is no windscreen at all this will have to do. Bah!
Neverneverneverevertrytoattachcanopiesafterpainting. As if I didn't know already
Hope to be back soon in a more positive mode!

Sorry friends, this one will never get finished. Canopy came loose for the third time tonight and I decided it has already stolen too much modelling time so I binned it. Sorry!

Hi Magnus
I'm really sorry to read you've scrapped it! But I certainly know the feeling - with the floats continually coming adrift, my Laté 298 has frequently come within moments of learning to fly... straight into the bin! It's put out of reach for its own safety until I can face having another try at completing it...
I'll look forward to seeing your next builds finished safely.
All the best
Rowan

Honestly, this is the first time I have ever done it! I have of course scores of unfinished kits but none that I have scrapped this way. I realised that if I left it sitting there so near completion I would never get the peace of mind to continue with something else.
Take care of your Latecoere, it is a way to cool and uncommon aircraft to scrap. After all, there is no shortage of Spitfire models! And I will maybe get me another one of these and try sanding and polishing the kit canopy instead. If that ever happen I promise to continue this thread!

hi magnus! when you say you binned it, have you actually thrown it away? the reason i ask is that i bought an airfix magister kit from ebay a couple of years ago, that came with a cracked canopy. no problem i thought, its got four decal options so i'll just buy another, and try to vac mold a replacement.
however i cracked the second one whilst trying to make a plug, so now i had two magisters that were unbuildable. i came very close to simply giving them away with the proviso that both had damaged canopies but didn't.
nearly two years later pavla have released a cockpit set for it that includes a vac canopy, so my maggies can be built and finished
with your spitfire being a pretty nice model apart from the canopy trouble, you could just mothball it, and maybe a suitable replacement will eventually be released. of course having this same kit (although unbuilt) i am in the same boat too!

Sorry to say it Phil but it certainly isn't mothballed! I felt it was too childish to post a photo of what was left of it when I was finished with it (I never took a photo either) and the remains of it has probably already been reclaimed as energy !
