Is Monogram going to release their C-47 anythime soon? I want to do a little diorama, but I need the plane. I know you can get on EBAY probably.

Hi Chip
I don't know if it due for re-release, but you can still find it quite easily...
A have to warn you... in 1/48 scale it won't be a "little" diorama - you'd be surprised just how big the C-47 is... :-)
All the best
Rowan

He's right, I had the Monogram Classics Sky Train reissue, it was too big a kit so I traded it off. It was a very nice model though.

It's a bear top build. I have one on the workbench for a museum project. Really poor fit alonfg the fuselage halves, especially aft of the wing segment on the bottom. Major warp and it's too hot and sticky right now to want to do all that sanding. You'll waste a lot time on an interior that can't be seen, too. And yes, it's one big model!

Ditto on all the comments by Mr. LaFleche. Tried one several years ago, could never the fuselage halves to close. One of the kits that led to my 9 year hiatus from modeling. Come to think of it, almost all the kits that went unfinished due to fit problems were Monogram... Didn't they know how to measure back in the 1960's?

They could measure in the 60's, but the copyright mark on the OUTSIDE of the wing says 1978! Maybe they were too busy snort..., uh, dancing to the disco beat to measure carefully.

:-) Hehehe, I have the C-47. Someone managed to build it, judging by the pictures on the box. I'd like to make a start on it, anyone for a campaign

Touche, I suppose. I binned the thing while I was still in high school, more than a decade ago. I've repressed most of my memories of it, which would certainly include its issue date. Too funny about the reason for the fit problems, Al.
