I was reading in an old issue of SAMI, that Trumpeter was going to release a 1/48 scale Vickers Wellington, and also a SM.79. I see they already have released the SM.79, because Squadron is taking preorders. Any word on the Wellington?

Hi Chip

Like many, I'm drooling at the thought of a 1/48 Wellington. :-)

I have to say the Trumpeter SM79 has got a lot of problems (I got one a month or so ago), so I'm certainly not going to pre-order the Wellington...

That said... I'm always an optimist...

All the best

I am still waiting to see if they are going to release it. If they are, I will preorder it definatly.
Whats wrong with the SM.79? Bad Fit?

Hi Chip

Regarding the SM79... (and this is off the top of my head)...

...the fabric effect is OTT, the wing airfoil is wrong, the horizontail tail is too small, the engine cowlings are wrong, the rear of the engine nacelles are wrong, the cockpit detail is very basic... I'm sure there's more I've forgotten.

But the fit of parts is good! The wing is easier to assemble than Classic Airframes and I think the gondola is more accurate...!

Seriously, Chip, I'd wait for some reviews before spending any money... Trumpeter seem to be very variable in their quality.

All the best

Rowan
