I've never seen that type of paint scheme before. Is that real or just for the box top?

Hi, Rowan, nice review! I have been thinking about getting this one, but it seems one should get the resin upgrade as well. That puts the price at around $85. Still, Italian fighter planes are so colorful, it's tempting.

I have just about finished this kit, and it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. The fit is terrible in many places, and the directions leave a lot to be desired at times. Still, it builds up into a very fine plane. The decals are superb, though there is no hint about what fascist roundels to use on the top of the wings (bottom is well-illustrated).

Yes, I will post some photos. Waiting for the landing gear to firm up so I can photograph the plane. All in all, it looks very good, but I doubt I could win a competition with it, as the vacuform canopy, for example, just doesn't have the detailing and crisp lines of a styrene version. However, until Dragon or someone comes out with a state-of-the-art styrene kit, this is your best bet in this large scale.

As promised, this is what the kit looks like built (with more photos here). This particular plane is from the 356th Squadriglia serving in Russia in 1942.
