I've got a Yak-1b on the way, and I'd like to know about the paint colors used by the Soviets during WWII. I plan to do the gray-on-gray scheme that so many Soviet fighters had after the first year of the war. Anybody have conversion tables or opinions on which paint manufacturers and colors reproduce or substitute well for these colors? Thanks very much.

Here's an online color chart for soviet aircraft:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_soviet.htm
Fine scale modelers did a WWII color reference chart in the past six or eight months but don't remember what month. I saw it the other day while looking for something but can't find it now.

Thanks Rowan, Tin_Can. I didn't realise that IPMS Stockholm had a Soviet section in their website. Too bad all their formulas are for Humbrol; I've sworn off enamels, and the wife won't stand for the fumes. Still, the color shots will help me find something close enough to fake from an acrylic maker.
