I'd really like to get a 1/48 Bf 110 or two, but I'm shocked to discover the dearth of options. Seems like virtually nobody makes one, and none of those that are made are new (probably lots of raised panel lines, etc.). Does anybody have any recommendations on a good kit? I'd be interested in all marks, too, whether night or day fighters, so don't feel constrained.

Sorry, obviously I'm concerned about them being NOT new. New would be great.

Revell-Momogram has one, Bf-110G-2

Promodeler BF-110G-4

Fujimi makes one in 1/48 I think.

I don't know if these are available, but if you have a store that sells old stuff they could be found. They are pretty "new" not some 1960's kit with the musty smell and shi**y decals.

Sounds like a prowl 'round ebay is in order. Thanks, fellas.

Anybody got ideas on Bf.110C/D's? I love the nightfighters, but I'd also like to be able to do one in a desert scheme.

Part-timer, the Fujimi kit does the C/D versons. Its been around for quite a while. It has recesed panel lines but the cockpit detail leaves much to be desired (at least by current standards). I rather doubt it is still around, one of the decal sheets in my example is dated 1977 (there are seperate sheets for each version), though the box and instructions are dated 1987.

STOP PRESS I've just seen the Fujimi one is still listed at Great Models Web Store, along with another C/D from a company called AstroKit Models

No info on that one I'm afraid.

Thanks, ukgeoff! I had seen the Fujimi model, but was skeptical. As long as it has recessed lines, I can fix the cockpit. I just didn't want a rescribing problem on my hands. Not up to that, I'm afraid.

I found this description of the astrokit model:

Fujimi plastic with Regia Aeronautica & Luftwaffe decals and paint schemes. This kit builds very easily allowing you lots of time for detailing. The only 1:48 110C/D available. One of the Luftwaffe's premier ground attack aircraft. See photos of completed model built OOB in Italian colors by Wes Shirley in our Gallery.

Here's the gallery: http://www.pacmodels.com/gallery_astrokit.shtml Small pics, only 2 of the 110, can't really tell anything.

At any rate, looks like the Fujimi (regardless of box top) is the only game in town for an early 110. Surprising, really... I though anything with black crosses was thought to sell like hotcakes. Maybe tamiyagawa will get around to it eventually. I'll definitely get the Fujimi.

Well, I just won a Revell Bf 110G-4 on ebay. The only problem? 1/32 scale. I'm anticipating a great kit that I won't be able to build for lack of room until I buy a larger house. @#$%^ impulse buy. Oh, well, the box will be nice to look at for a while.
