I'm going to go through the build step by step and keep it OOB and I'll stick pretty much with the kit instructions on how to paint the parts.
Here's the painted interior. We are given the most very basic parts. Engine cylinders, seat, rudder and cockpit floor. This simplifies the build.
I painted the cowling around the engine so I wouldn't have to mask too much on the exterior after I put the halves together.
And here are the halves together. Good fit all around.
More to follow,
Mark

Moving along very nicely Mark !
Not much in the ways for the cockpit detailing . This would be a great kit for some one just starting out in modelling and ones who suffer with AMS will have a field day with detailing !
Is the lenght of the landing struts correct ?

Terri,
You're right. These kits make for pretty quick builds OOB. I haven't checked the landing struts yet, I'll get back to you on that.
Today I painted the tail green and part of the nose was red, along with the spinner.
The top of the bottom wing needs to be painted a wood color as you will see it through the cockpit.
The wing is glued on and the tail is dry fitted.
The tail has a small gap in it. I'll have to fill it in with a piece of strip styrene.
And I re-sprayed the fuselage grey color to clean up the lines around the red and green colors.
More soon,
Mark

Thanks, Jose. I used Testors 1166 "Flat Brown". One coat with the brush leaving streaks, then a wash along the interior detail with thinned black artist oil.

Hi Terri,
I just got my paint in for the rest of the build this week. I'll be using Polly scale German Mauve for the Albatros. It would be another 3 to 4 weeks if I wait for my Misterkit back order so i decided to go ahead and use the other paint so I can finish up my build.

Hi everyone,
Here is the final build for the Albatros. I lost all of the build pictures due to a virus on my home computer. Questions are welcomed.

Great work. How do you do your rigging, and what do you use?
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Terri!
Mike, I used smoke colored thread and drilled holes through the wings at the attachment points, pulled the tread through and superglued both ends. Then you just trim the excess from the top and bottom of the wings.

Thanks, Mark. I've heard of that method before, but I always thought it would leave a blemish or scar on the plastic that would show through the paint. I've scoured your pics looking for that, and don't see a thing! Great job on it - it sure looks like metal cable to me...
Cheers,
Mike

Mike,
You do have to be careful. I angle the drill so that the hole does not come out on the top of a rib but more in the "dip" between the ribs. It's easier to fill and sand there. Really glad you like it.

Well Mark overall I would say its a fine build. But I have to ask; why the D.Va aileron controls?

Very good explanation, I have to keep it in mind for my models...
Congratulations Mark, as usual very good looking model, although it's only out of the box. I hope you enjoyed the building process.
