I am starting a Mil 1 from Special Hobby in 1/48 scale. The kit is great looking in the box but it takes some work to make things fit right and some of the detail is not os good like the rotor head but I will try.

This is the interior so far

The kit has a vacuformed nose section with the landing light lens built in so I made a light out of a tin disc and a drop of clear epoxy and built a small frame for it to rest in in the nose.

The instrument panel is installed in the nose and then the whole assembly will go onto the nose, I glued two BB's in the nose just to make sure it sits on its wheels.

The rotor head was not very detailed so I added some extra bits and hydraulic lines before painting and then mounted it on a brass wire. I will not glue it to the ship just stick it into an aluminum tube that I glued into the rotor mast.

Really good modeling !!!

Always fancied to get this kit too, but as it is the (or one of the) first MPM kit(s) I was always very reluctant. Yours looks great!

all the best

Steffen

It is a little crude in some areas but I want a 1/48 Mil 1 so I am dealing with it. I think most of the hard stuff is done and now I jsut ned to finish it.

I framed in the canopy with rolled out epoxy putty to form the sheet metal borders.

Wow Doug great work, love the detail work you’ve done so far. I like your color choice for the interior. Looking forward once the fuselage paint is laid on.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

Hi Doug,

Excellent work so far!

Are you a fast builder or did you take some photos in advance? Anyway, I'm looking forward to see more...

Thank you Jean-Luc I am trying to get it done for a show next month so I am pushing on pretty steady just a little bit each day and it goes together pretty quick.

That looks very good!
I very like the details and the paint-work!

Some years ago (ca. 20 years) I´ve built the east german model kit, made by VEB Plasticart.
These were "very simple" kits, but now they are rarities.

greetings...
Soeren

Thanks Soeren
I think I built that same kit and it was a little simple. I have the A-Model Mil 1 to build b and it looks good but it has some problems also like the clear parts. I am almost done with the paint on this one I will post pictures soon.
