In my new corsair kit the "score marks" (I don't know what they're really called) has a half flag... What does that signify??? Is it a dual kill where two planes brought one down?

Could be two explanations. One is a ground kill, which the Navy/USMC usually did not credit. Second is a shared kill. That is most likely.

I have always thought that it stood for a "shared" kill/shhotdown between two pilots.
