its name says that it is black
many photo's on the net indicate that it is black, or at least very dark
but written sources (e.g. Osprey) write that most black hawks are painted green.
Could somebody who has seen real black hawks give me an idea what it should be?

It's definitely not black (unless purposely painted that way for some specific reason). Based on references and on actually seeing and photographing the real thing, the correct color is US Army Helo Drab. You can find this in the Testors range (both enamel and acrylic) and other paint manufacturers as well.
