Hi, i thought this would be a better place to go than dio'.
i saw a while ago, these sets, i think 1:72 im not sure really but it came with a hornet (fa-18) and some grouend crew i beleive and a ready made peice of the runnway, you could aslo get others with a brake cable and stuff as if it was on a carrier deck, has anyone done one of these kits before, if so who makes them and what are they called, and do u have any pics of them built, cheers

Hi ,
I never done such a dio before but if we talk about carrier stuff and ground crew - I think it is Verlinden Exclusive - product - is resin deck with deflector in 1:72 scale ( only accessible on Verlindem www.page - cost about 100 Us $ ) rest like crew or tractors could be from Fujimi , I don't know if Verlinden made a carrier tractor in 1:72 scale ( in 1:48 yes )
I hope I could help.
Best Regards

I think Tamiya makes a modern carrier crew with tractor in 1:72. I know they make it in 1:48, I have it.

Dunno if you are referring to the AMT/ERTL A-10 Thunderbolt action scene kit. This kit comes with two pilots, ground crew, runway accessories, a plastic base and a cardboard runway. I have this kit, and i got it off Ebay.
Acc to the reviews that I saw later, the A-10 is supposed to be off the mark, but the other items in the kit seem to make up for this major gaffe.
Is this what you are talking about by any chance??
Cheers,
BP.

If my memory is right, the thing you're talking about was done by DML in 1/144th scale...

I'll second PenPen's notion that it was the DML kit in 1/144, but unfortunately I don't know of a similar kit in 1/72. Like other folks have said, Verlinden makes a 1/72 carrier deck with the blast deflector etc., but I don't know of an all in one kit.

HI ,
hmm - good Hornets and Groungcrew ? - IN past I make 2 Hornets from Esci and Italeri ( also Tamiya packing Italeri now - Warbird series - and the same about Revell ) in 1:72 scale , and now I kit the Hasegawa 1:72 - for Me is the Best Hornet Model in 1:72 scale - Hasegawa made very many versions of the same F-18 in mod A/B/C/D and they are available on the market - some dificulties You may have with decals I don't now exactly a set with RAAF markings . Second about Groundcrew sets try to look a hasegawa sets they are a three different boxes with many of airfild/base stuff like mechanics , electronical/avionics equipment also weapons loaders and of course pilots - try look at these links :

Thanks heaps for that TOMCAT14 its helped alot, the one by tamiya, i like that because its decals are simple, with no real relavence to a squadron of any sort, how much would that one be in AUS dollars (aus is double US) and is there a set that comes with sitting pilots as if hey are in the jet? cheers

No problem , but remember this Tamiya Model is reboxed Italeri ( Tamiya is Italeri Distributor for Japan Market ) - so quality of decals could be less than You thought .
If You want find some cheap solution try to find those sets on the cheapest Australian On-Line Shop - here it is HobbyHQ : http://www.hobbyhq.com.au/ , You could also contact with Bill he is a Manager of this mighty company and ask for any help .
PS : In Italeri / Tamyia sets there are not any Pilot figures - in Hasegawa they are
