Hey all. I'm new to armorama. Most of my modeling takes place in 1:35 armor. Thought you all might like to see the aircraft
I model. I love WW II US warbirds. My birds tend to be in the 1:7 to 1:12 scale! You see, I fly R/C! I have a 76" span P38 in the box
to be built next fall. Current project is an 86" span A-26 Invader. You can see my P39 and P47 at..

I just thought I'd share my birds with you. Look forward to reading your posts.

Welcome Don!
Nice to have a think-big guy on the site.
You´ll find it nice in here..

Btw, it was just minutes ago when I tried to joke about making a B-52 in 1:4 scale!
Well, that´s just the tunnel vision that hits you when concentrating in 1:35 guy´s moustache..

Thanks for the comments, guys. Envar.. there are some HUGE R/C models out there! I've seen B17s with spans up to @ 20 feet!!
My ultimate goal is a B17 of around 12 foot span. I need a few more years experience at building and flying first. I still get nervous flying my
P47! With @ 1 grand invested, you don't want to ding it!

Wow Don, those are nice. I don't think I'd ever have the cajones to fly a thousand dollar model!!

Silly question, but I would think that Jug would need a slightly larger propeller?

Paul, I try to keep everything true to scale when building my birds. But when it comes to prop size, you are pretty much
bound by the size a particular engine manufacturer suggests so as to put your engine in it's optimum rpm range. You can
play within certain parameters. In my case, I went with a 14" prop. I WAS concerned because the cowl diameter was so large.
At any rate, she flys fantastic and very scale like. I like to peel off at high altitude and do a screaming dive to the end of our feild
and go for the high speed, low altitude "stafing" run, with a half roll and pull up off the other end! Awesome!
Thanks,
Don

Sounds like a blast Don!! Thanks for the info, I looked at that first picture where it's lined up with the Mustang and said to myself, "Man, that just ain't right!" But if it flies the way you say it does, then it must be just fine.

Thanks for sharing with us!

Paul, I think I know what you see in the photo of the planes. It's a little decieving, but the 2 blade prop is nearly perpendicular
to the ground. The angle makes the prop look smaller than it really is. Look at this pic..

That's a great looking Thunder bolt!
