I have a miscast landing gear on the academy 1/48 four version kit part # E16, rather disappointed with academy, given to me as a gift a so no receipt available.I have no desire to make one from scratch, any remote possibility of anyone having a spare? at $28.00 I am not going to buy another kit.the top of the landing gear is missing the axle for the wheel and the articulated joint are partially missing to model with landing gear up is lame as the doors look goofy and ill fitting.....thanks

Dave, any luck with Academy/MRC customer service on replacement part? Haven't tried them B4 but I have had good luck with other mfg's.

Met a modeler back in Minnesota who only built airplanes gear up. Claimed it was their natural habitat. Might have also saved him some agrivation with fiddly landing gear bits.

Hi Dave

It's always tough when you haven't got a receipt (and the last thing you want to do is go back to the person that gave you the gift to see if they kept one), but I'd definitely contact Academy's US importer and explain your predicament - companies are usually very helpful.

All the best

Rowan

If all else fails you try and give this company a try

Scale Aircraft Conversions

They specialise in white metal undercarriage upgrades.

Hope this helps:)

Can't comment on quality of Academy service, haven't used it yet. A few years back, I got an A4D-1 from Airfix. For whatever reason the only canopy they included was for a Spitfire. Filled out their paperwork from the kit and a few weeks later I received the correct canopy for the kit.

good option, they have the parts for the hasegawa kit only which might work, tried the academy site to no avail, not even able to connect at all via net, I may just shelve the kit for awhile and buy another one....best deal is around $27.00, lesson learned is I will do visual check of ALL parts from now on looking for duds

Yea, I've got to say the missing part form is unique to Airfix / Heller. If you've got any buddies or contacts in the Far East, Academy kits go for about half the US price over there. Unfortunately I haven't been over there in about 3 years now.

I did find an e-mail for MRC, the importer [email protected]

I can't get the Academy page to load today.
