Hi Guys

Just a quick question does anybody make a good kit of the Albatros C IX, looking at 1/48 or 1/32

I know Ray Rimell did 3 @ 1:72 kit crashes noting the 3 prototypes in the late 1970's but since no others were produced most manufacturers did not even give them a second thought. Ray's drawings were done by Ian Stair but only reproduced in 1:72 for the magazine series on Alb. C types.

I know Ray used a highly modified Alb. D.III fuselage and scratchbuilt wings. One of these of course is noted as being sent to Jasta 11 and MvR used it as a transport for a time.

I was hoping the answer would be that so and so did a vacuform kit in 1/48th or something on that order. I do know that Extra vac did one as part of a 3 plane Albatros special. The kits were of course done in 1/72nd. Too bad there were only 3 built as this seems to preclude a large market even in our WWI community.

Hi Stephen

Thank you for the info, it is a real shame, its a wonderful looking aircraft, I wish I had the knowledge to give that kind of conversion a go, but not as yet, maybe one day, unless some kind sole decides that they wish to produce a kit of one.......

Thanks again

Dave
