Well, yesterday I started applying the decals. It is not an easy task as each of the provided shemes has its own set of different(!) stencils. Not much (very few) per scheme but enough to get confused.
I decided I stay close to the Singapor AF guide and adjust according to the few photos I have - as mentioned earlier these are only lhs with no chance to peek on the wings or below.
Second task of the day was to find a "0" tha fits the "43" I had from a Microscale sheet (432 actually) as I wanted the "sixtime MiG-killer". Finally I found two at an CED sheet for my F-84 which I had twice (luckily - as I need four "0") and only need the other markings (double-lucky). In retrospect I should also have changed the 4 as it is slightly different in style on the original ... but who knows...

still some more stencils to add..

Hi Steffen
Very neat (and likewise your JF-17). It's really coming together.

Hello Rowan
many thanks for responding from time to time! I know people are looking, but it helps to keep the spirit when I get some feedback (no matter what)
I attached the last stencils (as I wrote there are not many but I still did not figure out where and on which camo all the stuff on the sheet has to go ...
Before giving the model another gloss coat I thought it would be a nice idea to attach the under carriage as I want the nose gear bay closed too. So here is how it looks now (see, no stencils on the lower side?!)

Good morning
yesterday I sprayed the whole thing with another good layer of Klear and today I added the wash with water colours (umbra and black). Look's nice, doesn't it?

Hi Steffen,

Yes! I always like this part of a build, when a model look as if it can be thrown in the dustbin!

Jokes aside, I'm sure the engraved detail will look great on the AFV kit. Very nice build so far Steffen!

Hi All
I am progressing .... slowly, but I do. The construction of the wheel bay covers looks rather fiddly in the instructions, but we will see.

Looks good. You can almost hear the engines cooling down after a long flight.

Thanks Mark!
I had to write some reviews over the last days, which pretty much used all my energy. And the I have to do such stuff .. no wonder there is little progress (these are two small parts glued to the u/c door and another one has to be attached on the other side (should have added a Cent to show the size):

and here is a small teaser of what I did yesterday evening...

Nicely done, Steffen. The US "Southwest Asia" scheme isn't one that's seen very often and you've done a nice job with it. You know, actually if you leave that sludge on there, it'll look a lot like a few photos I've seen of derelict Ethiopian aircraft.
It's a little late now, but I did find a photo of the right hand side of an Ethiopian F-5:
http://s188567700.online.de/UserFiles/File/SubSaharanAfr/Ethiopia_and_Eritrea_1950_1991/etaf_f-5a_574.jpgThis site has quite a bit of information on the various wars in Africa (and other places) and may be worth checking out:

hello Don
Many thanks for your kind comment!
I also found a rhs pic of the scheme just the other day (but camo was already done). I think I am not too far off. I have seen this scheme referred to as "Asia minor". And I know ACIG.org ..also referenced to it on the first page. The article in the German mag actually is an updated version of Tom Coopers article on acig.org.

Hi all
yesterday I mounted the u/c covers. Quite fiddly, but it was a good idea to glue one side first to the cover and let it dry. This gave the whole thing some strength and made the rest of the construction less difficult.

Hi Steffen. As usual your build is at a superb standard, and your progress reports are giving me a lot of tips and ideas.
Very nice build so far.
Cheers, D

Nice work Steffen
I see what you mean about them being fiddly!
The F5-E does look very tasty - I'm definitely tempted to try my hand at one in due course...

Thanks for watching Damian and Rowan!!
It is still not done. I have to paint the large belly tank and I am waiting for the Hasegawa Missile set (already shipped from HLJ) to put on 4 AIM-9B (hope there are some rails included).... but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi All
Just a short update: I go the Hasegawa missile set today and it includes 4 Sidewinder B but sadly no rails, so I need to do some research before I can proceed

Yep, Vance is right!
I thought it would be easier to remove the pylons than to scratchbuild the rails for the sidewinders. Besides I did not find photos of 4 rocket ships, soo....
hope to finish the model over the WE (It is about time!)
