I started another build, this time an G4M1 Betty. Another JAP, another Tamiya 1/48.
Let me just start out by stating that this is an excellent kit. Tamiya has done an good job with the production of this kit. Everything fits together nicely (some problems with two half-fuselage (it’s big). The transparencies are crisp, clear and thin. There are several options that one can choose as to which version of a G4M1 to build., Transport, Torpedo Bomber, or simply the Bomber version as I have chosen.
As far as details are concerned, the interior is nice, it could be enhanced with scratch-building or an after market supplement (I go use Eduard). The exterior is really smooth. The panel lines are nicely recessed.

I started my model for cockpit. I painted (all Tamiya colours) with XF-22. XF-22 + XF-2 (lights) and XF-22 + XF-1 (shadows).

I have this kit in the short stack of models to build soon. I like how yours is turning out. Nice colors and shading.

It's very nice, but I have to say that the color you painted the cockpit is completely wrong

Don't follow the tamiya instructions for painting
This thread it's the best guide to build a Betty

I admit that my model may be wrong but I spent a few hours on the net and could not see any photo of the interior of G4M1. I saw several models built. Some of Gray Green Interior, other Interior Green and other Aotake. In the absence of documentation followed the instruction sheet of Tamiya.
Do you have a photo of the interior of the model?
What I see on the site that referred me are images made by computer and a color table. Colors that often were not used but replaced by others. The text can not understand (Greek).
For the table Nakajima were painted Interior Green. But in the case of Nakajima J1N1 Gekkou were painted Aotake.
What color?
Anyway thank statement but it is too late to change the model.

Well, it's a photo of a model, made by a modeler, not a plane. Why is this correct? I even admit that my model may be wrong.
To paint the model, as I understand, he made a mixture of colors. I was wondering where he went to get the information? Do you have a photo of the interior of the plane?
I guided me through this picture.
Cheers ajcmac

Sorry but I have no further comment. We are not going anywhere. Color tables and scanned images into computer also have. I agree that my model is wrong.

Hi Antonio
Regardless of any colour discrepancy, that's beautiful work on the shading and highlighting!
I bought this kit when it was first released and still haven't had an opportunity to build it. I'm really looking forward to seeing your finished model.
All the best
Rowan

Hi Antonio
The colour shading in the interior looks fantastic, It must build up into a large model being 1/48, I will be following your build with great interest as I have never built a Japenese aircraft before. All the best with it.

Looking very good with the shading/highlighting you have done. At least with the Betty there is so much glass that your work will not be hidden away.
I have this kit is my to do heap - to go with the 1/350 Prince of Wales I have started. So I will certainly follow this build with interest - and your photography of your progress is very good too.

Very nice detailing, Antonio. My skills are only now getting to the point where I take pains with shading and weathering the interior of planes. Seeing your work makes me want to get better at it. Looking forward to more pics.
Cheers,
Mike
