Hi again
Ahh - great joy! I found a pot of WEM Colourcoats matched to FS 26118 (it's actually Grigio Azzuro Scuro from their WW2 Italian range) and it's going on beautifully.
All the best

Acrylics rule!
They are equally unhealthy but the fast drying time is hard to beat with those stinking enamels ...
cheers

Hi Steffen
I must admit I do generally prefer enamels for airbrushing precisely because of their longer drying time. Add a drop of Rustin's Driers and it's down to about half an hour, but there's still less chance of paint building up on the needle tip as you spray. That said, I had no problem airbrushing LifeColor acrylics for mottle on the Dora 9 and the really pure white was heaven-sent to save the day on this build.
I'll be using LifeColor again throughout on Dragon's quarterscale Bf 110.
All the best

Hi Rowan
just pulling your leg ... I know paint is very much a matter of personal taste.
Did not know there was a thing to speed up drying of enamels, but there are several redarders that reduce the clogging and it also depends much on the brand (e.g. I liked the old Gunze but do not like th enew stuff, similar: Lifecolor good, xtracrylix bad )
looking forward to your Bf 110 D!
cheers

Hi again
Yes, I use retarder/flow enhancer with acrylics and it definitely helps.
Rustin's Driers is great stuff - it makes all the difference with Xtracolors which take forever to dry otherwise. Jean-Luc is also sending over some Courtrai Drier which he uses with oils (I'd never heard of it before, and neither had the staff in my local art shop...) - so I'll definitely test it with enamels.

Hi again
Shock, Horror! I actually applied the decals today, so I'll risk a clear-coat to even things up at the weekend (risk seeming to be the operative word with everything I've inflicted on this unlucky kit! ) and call it finished. I'll post pics in the Review to follow.
Have I enjoyed this disaster-prone build? Well, bizarrely, yes! It's a fine kit and it's taught me not to get complacent because something's seemingly "simple". A year ago I'd have probably got distracted and moved on to the next victim, so I'm pleased to have brought the beastie home.
But I won't complain if I don't make similar blunders again...

Hi again
There were so many distractions, I completely forgot to post any pics of the finished beastie!
Well, I say "finished" - I actually can't decide whether to do a wash to highlight the panel lines a bit. The real thing always looks pristine in photos, but maybe a bit of artistic licence might add a touch of life to the model...

Why am I on the floor, I'd better get up, oh that's why, Rowans finished yet another kit (feeling faint again) .
Very nice Rowan, definitely not your usual scale and time period.
I can see your dilemma with the wash, personally I wouldn't bother, as they are kept absolutely spotless.
A great job on such a huge beastie.

Well, thats the one for this decade ....
Looking good!, I would not add a wash, because now it is finished (who knows what might happen)

Cheers Andy and Steffen
Well, this makes it three for this year, so I hope I do manage to do a few more before the decade's out.
You're probably right about the wash - best to call it done and move on. I've been tinkering with the Dragon Bf 110 for an hour or so each day for the last few days, because I want to make a bit of progress on that before the Shooting Star arrives.

I like this new and improved version of Rowan, so much better then the old model which always started but never finished, keep it up.

Hi Steffen
A kind of Australian deerstalker hat maybe? Perhaps Sherlock Green was searching for clues as to where all the people had gone - the show didn't seem nearly as busy as the commentary described.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who did a double-take when I saw the size of the RQ-4!
