Calling all Airmen and Groundcrew!

Most of you probably don't know me, I usually crawl around tanks and such...

I am proposing a Koren War Campaign over on Armorama as this year will be the 60th Anniversary of the start of that "police action". As we already have a lot of campaigns going I was thinking of making this a 2011 campaign running from Jan. 1st to Dec. 31 2011.

I would like to make this a Kitmaker Network-wide campaign and at least include Armorama, Aeroscale, MSW and Historicus Forma. In other words the Campaign includes any armor, aircraft, ship or person involved in that conflict between 1950 and 1953, any scale and of course dioramas are welcome. There are lots of options here, with a conflict that involves the last WWII and the earliest Cold War technology.

So please, if you're interested in such a campaign state your interest here on Armorama or in this thread.

Cheers and thanks!

Robert, watch your six in that Yak. I might do a Sabre.

Hi all
I would be very interested. I watched 'the hunters' the otherday and fancy doing a Sabre as well, possibly Italeri or Kinetic 1/32 F-86.

Ok Jesper but I am still doing a Yak if one can be found. I searched Squadron.com and did not find a 9, does anyone know where a 1/48 Yak 9 can be found? If not were the La 5/7s used in Korea and is there any documentation on the markings Back to ya Jesper.

I'll have to check my references on the La-5 and La-7. Don't have them here right now but will check tomorrow.

Seems we already have the required 10 participants to submit the campaign, thanks for your support guys. I'll submit it in the next few weeks (no hurry really...) and by then we'll have hunreds of supporters!

Cheers!

Bob, according to my references the only piston engined fighter Aircraft the North Koreans used was the Yak-9P. You clould try an IL-10?

Cheers!

Stefan, thanks for the information on the Yak. I am unable to find one in 1/48 at the moment so I guess that a little research into the IL10 is in order.

I have a Tigercat that I "started" for a night fighter campaign last year. I don't think I actually glued any parts together, I certainly didn't get around to painting anything ! Anyways, this would be a good reason to complete it. I'm in.

Ryan, I think that should be OK, as long as you haven't glued anything yet. But remember, the campaign won't start until next year, by then you might have yet another kit.

Bob, great link, thanks! And it proves me wrong on the La-7... Even though aparently it wasn't really used in combat.

Cheers!

Allright Gents, this is for thouse who haven't noticed yet, the Campaign is approved but apparently it is not possible to make it appear on all campaign pages so it will just be hosted on Armorama.

Sign up is here and the main thread is here.

Cheers and thanks for joining up!

No wonder the treadheads were looking at me like I was crazy, I was in Armorama Chatting up folks about their aircraft and ships builds for this campaign well I'm signed up. Now it looks like I have 5 choices of what to build, couple of F2H's, an F-80C, an F-82G and now an F7F.

What a day. Started out with 5 options for a Korean War A/C. Started my research and lost one. Looks like the F2H-3 didn't deployed before the cease fire. Here's a list of ships, Navy and Marine squadrons and A/C that deployed.
http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/koreaob.htm

Still a little hope for my Airfix / MPC F2H-2. They deployed several times to Korea. The MPC kit has a -2P nose option I'd like to use, but of course it only has decals for a -2 flying off of the Kearsarge in late '52, early '53.

Anybody got good photos or colors for VC-61 (tail Code PP), VMJ-1(MW), or VC-62 (PL)(it only flew 1 deployment off of the Lake Champlain)?

Mark it seems that USS Boxer was there quite a few times, I also noted that my old squadron VP 8 did go.

I am now going to live out my sadistic tendencies and force you flyboys to get over on that treadhead thread and play with your planes in the dirt!

Nah, just think it would be cool if everyone posted on the main thread (see link above). After all we want to share accross the sites and maybe some treadheads will start building wingy things and vice versa, not to mention tug boats and stuff.

Tandjewberrymud for your cooperation!

Bob, the Navy order of battle page was driving me crazy, it was in numerical order by type and hull number, I wanted date order so I could try to do a summer of '50 plane. So....I built a spreadsheet. Looks like Boxer did 4 tours, Valley Forge, Princeton and Princeton each did 3, Essex and Bon Homme Richard did 2 and a 2-3 ships did 1 tour each.

I re checked the VP assignments and see that VP 6, 7 & 9 pulled hitches over there, but I didn't see VP 8. Are my eyes failing me? Picked up another plane idea too, I've got the Matchbox PB4Y-2 somewhere. Dress that up and call it a P4Y-2

Mark did you post a link or a list that had all of the aircraft in the Korean War if so I can not find it. I was viewing an art selection with A20 Havocs and the name plates stated "WWII to Korea" what the hey!

Ah, no, I didn't post a list of all A/C used in Korea. I just did USN ships with Navy / Marine A/C.
Umm, you did, sorta, back around 4/11, looks like the BB codes didn't take. Accounting must really be rotting your brain. Stefan re posted it a couple of entries later. I took a look, and there's a lot of Douglas A/C but no A-20's.
