Hi everyone,
I want to combine a Henschel 123 with a power supply (anlasswagen) in my dio. Is this a logical combination? Dit the plane need a powersupply during maintenance for instance? And yes, where did it plug in?
I hope someone can help me with this
Greetings Johan

Hello Johan
Well, this would be normally my cup of tea, but honestly I must say, that i do not know. I always thought it was started at the prop by two mechanics.
I just checked the article in Luftfahrt International and there is a battery start (internal) mentioned. If this worked also with an external starter cart is unknown to me. None of the pix there showed such a cart near the a/c.... fwiw
all the best

Hi Johan
I can't see a starter cart in any of the shots I have of Hs 123s - but that doesn't prove anything. The closest I have to a reference that may be useful is this, from Patrick Lareau's "Condor" (Hikoki Publications):
The caption reads:
" Hs 123 24-3 stands on the flight line, ready to start, with two fire extinguishers ready nearby in case."
All the best

Hi guy's,
This might be something. Watch number 13. It's an outside connection.
Is it a connection for some sort of power supply or for radio?

Well
in my opinion this is for a battery to power up the board systems and not for starting the Aircraft. The small cart (e.g. in the thing in the 48scale Tamiya set) is for starting the BMW 801. I am still convinced the engine of the Hs123 is started up mechanically or maybe pyrotechnical, but not electric....
as I wrote: just my opinion! But remember this is a prewar aircraft!

Is the power supply (anlasswagen) only for starting the BMW 801? Cause it has a generator and a battery!

Anlasswagen says it all it means starter cart and not APU. there were other battery carts in use too.
It seems you just want your own truth so just go ahead and build what you want. i have done this in the past and if someone is challenging you just do like the armour modellers: let him/her prove you wrong....
As for the starter cart: if you are not satisfied here, you can also check with Hyperscale Plane Talking where a lot of Luftwaffe nuts hang around or if you want to go the historical rout (i.e. non modelling) check Ruy Hortas 12 o'clock high Luftwaffe board. I doubt you will find the answer you want to be true but you are welcome to prove me wrong

Hi Steffen,
I just read the Tamiya manual where it say's: "The power supply was used for starting up the engine AND power up the onboard systems during maintenance to save the internal batteries."
I don't want to question your knowledge about this, cause i'm a nobody in this, or maybe cause of my poor English i do not understand you right, but is this possible?
You see i want to go to the bottom of this

Update:
In the meantime i had some e-mail contact with the Luftfahrt-Archiv .
The BMW engine was started with a crank.
The "aussenbordansluss" is an electrical connector Siemens 77 stp 40 b. for external current-supply (= fremde Stromquelle).
If the anlasswagen was used for this or, like Steffen said, just for starting the engine i don't know yet. Maybe someone does know what kind of startercart was used for this?!
