Let me introduce myself. I'm full-time modeller, mostly interested in AFV's models, but from time to time i'm bulding some planes.
ICM's Yak-9t is very simple, but almost all pats fits well. I've built it OOB (with two simple scrathced additions only) :







I paid little attention to building process, becose i've wanted to made some experiment with painting:

peshadeing (on upper surfaces dissapeared under tamiya's acrylics at next steps.. )



and camo applied and shaded:

Ok, I'm officially exiting long time lurker mode to do this...

That's a beautiful example of a frequently overlooked aircraft. Thank you for showing it. The VVS has been a passion of mine for almost a decade now and I still get a thrill when someone manages to bring it so vividly to life.

Now to the constructive criticism bit.

The one thing I'd change are the fuel gauges mounted in the top of the wings by the cockpit. The way they're weathered at the moment makes them look like fuel filler caps. Here's a link to a useful page that shows the two dial types used on the Yak series:

My guess is that a 9T of your type is going to have had the later dials fitted.

Good choice.

With ICM and Zvezda both releasing extremely high quality kits at the moment it's a good time to be modelling the red stars. Even HobbyBoss aren't bad for cheap 1/72 goodies.

With regard to the LaGG the most useful link I have is this one:

If you hunt around a bit there's a wealth of info hidden away. The scale drawings of the different series are particularly helpful. What I will say is that, in reality, the production LaGG was always a bewildering mixture of features, so go with what you like. There's a good chance someone was flying something similar.
