This is my 1/48 scale Tamiya Fw 190 D-9, this model was built from the box with the mainwheels being replaced with those from a Dragon 190 kit.
Decals are from an Eagle Cals sheet except for the black 2 which came from my spares box.
Sharp eyed readers will notice this is the Dora that is from the bottom of page 188 in Jerry Crandall's first Dora book.

Your backgrounds are as good as your models! I always enjoy looking at your displays. Russell

P.S. The saucer in the sky looks just great too!

Beautifully done! The Dora is one of my favorites, and you really outdid yourself on this one.

AND: The last photo seems to confirm the whole Nazi/UFO connection. :

Hi Les

Great work as usual! Funny, I don't remember spotting the flying saucer in Jerry's book - I'll have to go back and check...

All the best

Thanks Ed and Rowan!

I included the UFO in that pic simply because it was one of the last three models I have finished, sort of a group pic.

More pics,

As usual super work, Les!!!!

and one model in TOTS

I like the "lower mountain" background better but both are really superb!

BTW Did you change the u/c angle .. it is a bit wrong in the Tamiya kit but quite easy to correct (plus of course changing the much too small wheels)

all the best

Thanks Steffen!

All I did was replace the too small Tamiya kit wheels, also I filed down the tail wheel strut slightly to lower the tail to improve the ''sit'' of the model but otherwise did not change the angle of the landing gear legs.

I will paint another backdrop next year, the next one will not have the mountains in it, but this year I will be making a new photobase that will match better with the older backdrop with the mountains.

Thanks Les!

The sit looks o.k.

Just to make my post more understandable: I prefer this background

there are a few places in Germany where this could be, but the high mountains with snowy peaks are only in the very south....

cheers

Steffen

Steffen,
Thanks for the information.

The backdrop you like came from a model RR scenery layout, I bought it from a Walthers catalog a few years ago. I also like it very much but I like painting my own backdrops instead of buying them, to me buying backdrops is almost the same thing as buying pre-built model airplanes...where is the fun in that?
The more backdrops I paint I (hope) will get better at it.

Hi Les,

I figured you were involved with, and giving a teaser for, the movie Iron Sky

Great build, Les. I love your photos. Very cool.

Frederik, that looks like one bizarre movie. Could be fun to watch, thought.

Thanks Fred and Jesper!

Fred,
That movie ''Iron Sky'' looks like a hoot! Can't wait to see it.

BTW, if you think my UFO in the Fw 190 pic is strange, you are going to really dig my secret bomber project.
