Hi all

I've been on a mission lately to complete kits that were started and then faded into the 'to do' pile - particularly kits that I bought on a whim and were then surpassed by a better release.

A case in point is the Hobbycraft Lavochkin La-7 - well I think it's the La-7 as I've long lost the box and instructions (I have a habit of sticking many kits in one box while I'm working on them - consequently I often loose bits....). Anyhoo, I started this kit years ago after picking it up for $5 (NZ) - got bored and disappointed with it pretty quickly. So jump a few years (and years) and along comes the Zveda La-5FN - what a beautiful kit - not exactly a fall together kit in the Tamiya/Hasegawa league, but with some work, a very enjoyable kit.

Inspired by the Spanish School of detailing - I thought this was perfect to do something with the La-7 and address some of the detail shortfalls by tricking the eye a wee bit. So here is the interior detail (or lack of...) - apologies for the pics....

And for comparison, here is the Zveda La-5FN:

Just a few details to complete - final clear coat, some dangly bits and an aerial.

Cheers

Rob

Looks good, Rob. The Zvezda details are very nice and the weathering is subtle and realistic. Maybe that Zvazda bird needs to find its way into my stash

Thanks for sharing - looking forward to see it finished.

Hi Rob,

Your Zveda Lavochkin is about to be a great model! Does the Zveda model come with the ASh-82FN engine and ShVAK's?

The Lavochkins, my favorite Soviet WW2 fighters. The only fighter that I can think of that looks better with a radial than the original in-line engine.
