Checking to see if the US ever operated any Hurricanes and if so did they have US markings If anyone here has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

My first guess would have been the Eagle squadrons, but it looks like they only flew Spitfires,

Robert,

The Eagle Squadrons flew Hurricanes, if any US markings were carried on Hurricanes it would have been during Operation Torch.

The Eagles as you say flew Hurris, but had transitioned to Spits before being absorbed into the USAAF. AFAIK, all Eagle Hurris had RAF markings

I believe this removal of british roundels on british aircraft was to appease the feelings of the French in North Africa. After all the British had, only a couple of years earlier, attacked their fleet at Oran causing considerable casualties.
I wonder how a british pilot, flying an aircraft marked with "stars and bars", captured by Vichy French forces would have explained himself!

Just one more thing, the Hurri in the USAF Museum at Wright Pat is in Eagle's Markings, and it carries RAF Roundels.
