1:48 Maryland Mk.I/IIPosted: Wednesday, May 12, 2010 - 11:08 PM UTC
Special Hobby have released a very nice 1:48 scale Glenn Martin Maryland Mk.I/II kit. It is typical short run plastic with photo etched and resin detail parts.

Thanks for the review- looks a very nice kit! Any plans to build it? If you do, please build Warburton's, as in the box art. The three colour french camouflage looks cool!

Hi Jean-Luc
Nice review! It looks a very tasty kit - definitely a lot more "mainstream" than the previous quarterscale versions. I'll start saving up for my next treat.
All the best

Very nice review Jean-luc!
Of note: The tail is not skinny enough compared to the fuselage, which results in the the lower rear inverted "hump" not being roughly equal in height to the thickness of the tail at this juncture, as it should be.
This is not too bad however, and the bottom tail profile likely can be "cut" upward fairly easily with a long horizontal cut that trims the tail's height. The lower rear tail plastic is likely not thick enough for just sanding/carving this upward however, as about 1.5 mm + is needed...
The clear parts look excellent.
A very important subject, and apparently much better treated than the similar-sized but abominable Ki-48 "Lilly", by another short-run company whose name I'd rather forget...
