From artist and research fiend Robert Karr.

"Movie star needs rehab! After decades of mystery and international intrigue, one of the long lost Blue Max movie reproduction Fokker Triplanes make as an appearance. The real stars of the big-budget 60s movie were the WW I era reproductions built specifically for the movie. Several are accounted for and are flying, but this faded beauty queen has had a rather checkered past- but here she is! You never known what you'll see at the Chino POF airshow!"

Aw Jack, the WWW ate your homework..

The whole Nora Desmond thing is sad enough with real actors / actresses, it's even worse when it's so simple to keep a machine like this covered and maintained.

Hi Stephen. Not all the pictures turned out. Thanks for the heads up on this airplane. Was it also in Richthofen and Brown?

In my honest opinion she will never fly again. She could be used for static displays and patterns. I know we have Dr.I plans available. BUT she was built by German engineers from the old Messerschmitt company (1964-5).

Please, please, please
Send it here(Kiwiland aka New Zealand). We have a fella here into WWI aircraft. Mr Jackson, I think his name is.
I'm sure he'd like another Dr.I for his collection.

You know it's really painful to see such a beautiful aircraft just wasting away like that.I hope this movie star DR.I can be restored as a static display somewhere.I agree with Stephen though I seriously doubt she'll take to the clouds again.Sad very sad.

I volunteer at an organization that preserves and creates new replicas. Let me encourage all of you to somehow do the same or similar thing. Contribute, display your builds at a local airfield or hangar. Like minded people can make a difference.

Well said Stephen.Failing to have such an organization as you volunteer at may I suggest to the Forum that they look into Military Museums as well. Most would appreciate the volunteering and your modeling.

Hi Terri:

That would be a neat idea, it could be broadened to include Dawn Patrol, Fly boys, etc. (Movie Campaign), but a Blue Max campaign would be neat. Encore does a Blue Max Pfalz in 1/72nd scale.

Hi Paul and Mark

Yes Mark , that is what I was thinking for the campaign . Have it cover WW 1 movies giving more options for folks to build . So we don't hijack Stephen's thread here a I start a new one .

Sorry Stephen ..........

Two things impress me about this:
1. It survived.

2. It looks neat as a damaged and suvienear (you know what I mean) hunter damage.

I would do conservation work on it but would not change a thing.

At the Planes of Fame museum, if you get there is a patch of grass from the Russian steppe with the wreck of a P-39 laid out as it was found. A fitting memorial.

At the RAF museum Henden, UK, they have a Huricanne and a Halifax in as recovered condition (Only conserved) Sad, and fitting.

Why not the Dr.I. I don't care if it is "only a copy" it is the memory that counts.

From the looks of the paint scheme it could be VR&B or Darling Lilie. I am looking at the size of the wing cross.
