Hi there,

I just come back from an airshow. I saw (and got into...) a giant C-5 from the US Air Force. Quite an experience.
Does anyone know the best kit to build it. I would like to do it as big as possible. I presume that no kit at 1/35 exist.
Thanks in advance.

Entex made a resin 1/144 scale version, there was one in 1/72nd but I don’t remember who made it. And there’s a plastic one in 1/144 (Revell maybe). Here is a link to a vac form kit.

Here is a link to the resin set, looks great.

Other than that there is nothing larger.

Happy Modeling,

couple of years ago FineScale Modeler had a 1/72 scale Galaxy on their cover. Article inside said it was plastic and built well. I think it was vacu-formed, which is why I never got it

Hi Frank.
Wow a C-5 Galaxy in 1/35. By my maths that would make the model 84" [213 cm] long, a wing span of 76" [193 cm] and a height of 22" [56 cm]. Good luck sneaking pass your better half with the box! I had a similiar experience in the late 70's when a C-5 landed at Liverpool airport, UK, now John Lennon airport and stayed over for a weekend. My brother and I cycled 20 miles to see it and the crew were great and let us push our bikes through the length of the aircraft. Inspiring experience.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all those comments. It is very appreciated.
Of course, the 1/35 scale is a bit out of range for such an airplane... I didn't realize it
I looked to your suggestions and I will try one of these. I think I will begin with the GlobeMaster III with the Canadian Air Force (CAF). This is the biggest airplane in the Canadian Forces, I think.

Thanks again.

The C-5 is sort of a flying cavern.

Somewhere I had a picture of me watching F-16 fuselages being loaded into the belly of the beast under the watchful eye of a fully armed and ready to fire air policeman. No way a couple of lads were going tob allowed near that plane with their bikes.

I got to ride in one!!!. flying space A as a college student back in 74. No windows, you climb up this big 2 story ladder to get to passenger deck, then you ride facing backwards. Got a sack lunch. No matter, it was free and so cool to ride in that monster. My thought on a 35th scale.....hwere on earth would you p[ut that mama. I think you would be happy with a 144th scale. Though in 72nd, you could get some tanks and humvees to diorama it.

Simple, just reinforce the ceiling with a couple of steel I-beams and hang it up. Just watch (boink) where you walk in that room.
