Thought everyone would like to know that Bud Mahurin, American ace with the 56th fighter group during the second world war, died in May. He also flew Sabres in Korea and I was recently told he flew F-105's in Vietnam! Wow! What a career.

Also, German test pilot Rudy Opitz died as well recently. Rudy, hope I'm spelling it right, was a test pilot on the Messerschmitt 163 Komet; the rocket powered fighter going after American bombers. He continued active in flying and was a glider instructor right into his later years.

Two men, two legends are now gone. As so many from that generation are. Rest in peace. Russell.
