Does anyone out there have a copy or scan of the color painting instructions for the Tamiya 1/48 Fw190 D9?
1/48 Scale Aircraft Series No.81 (Item 61081)
Focke-Wulf Fw190 D-9 JV44
(from http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/610...jv44/focke.htm)
That is exactly the scheme I want to do, but the image, even at full magnification, is too small.
I'm trying to do a similar scheme on the HobbyBoss 1/72 kit for my classroom ceiling and their paint codes are dubious at best.
I'm mostly a 1/35th armor guy and the intricacies of late war German a/c cammo has a pretty steep learning curve.
On a related note, are there any good 'how to' sites out there for late war German a/c schemes?
I've got a 262 and a 163 in the rotation too.
Thanks a million,
Mike

As for the colours on the D-9 they were red and white striped. Though the pattern of the white strips was not constant between aircraft. The spacing was not uniform, the fuselage stripes met at the tail wheel and separated moving forward. At the mid fuselage the were just aside of the ejector ports and still diverging coming to a rest on the front of the cowling, wrapping around the front. As for the top surface anything goes unless you want to model a specific a/c. There are several gallery a/c on arc or other ites that do show the pattern quite nicely. I can send some diagrams from experten decals if wanted. As for the Me 163 and 262 they were painted at first RLM 74/75/76. The Me 163 usually wore a splinter of 81/82 82 being dark green. Though there are deviancies with just the top wing surface being in the two tone splinter and the fuselage being in 76 with splotches of 81/82/02 in varying degrees of coverage. Or you can do the all red one. The A series were in 02. For the Me 262 the prototypes were in 02 which lead into the two tone splinter of 74/75/76 which eventually lead to 81/82/76 82 being dark green and also 81/83/76. You can find a/c with parts left in bare metal or just covered in 02. Late war a/c were delivered in just 82 with a high demarcation line leaving the front line to finish the camouflage. Some being in a tight scribble others lose, use your imagination. Early recon a/c were delivered in a tight scribble of 82 leaving most of the a/c covered in a varying pattern no two a/c the same with the base 76 almost covered. With most late war luftwaffe a/c you able to use your imagination to what the a/c should look like in use of colours. As for tonation it varied so use what you want. Hope this helps and dose not confuse the matter even more.

Which one are you doing (link didn't work). I can scan the painting instructions from the Hasegawa 1/32 kit for "Red 3" and "Red 1" if that helps.
Here's a few piccies to get you going.
Here's one that ,in true Blue Peter style, I finished earlier.
Cheers
Steve
Forgot to say that the red colour would probably have been RLM 23,the standard red Luftwaffe laquer. I used the Xtracrylix version on my model. I don't use Tamiya paints so am not sure of their equivalent/mix. I'm sure someone will have done one somewhere, there are many RLM conversion charts on t'internet

Many thanks guys!
Between Steven's scans and the online tamiya color pics, I am good to go.
And I though late war ARMOR cammo was tough to get a handle on...
