hi all,

does anyone have a picture of a hurricane with the flaps down, close up,preferably on the ground?
specifically the way the inboard flaps overlap the outer ones.

in all my books there isn't really a close up picture.

i'm at the legends meeting at duxford this weekend and i'll see if i can get the shot there but i thought someone may have the shot i want.

cheers paul

i know spitfire pilots were fined for leaving their flaps down due to the potential damage from debris that could take a plane out of action.

the same could be true for hurricanes.

a LOT of planes don't have their flaps down by default when just sitting around - many more than you would think looking at models of those planes.

if you can't see flaps down on hurricane pics, it's likely because hurricanes just didn't have their flaps down while sitting around.

looking around, i can't even find any restored warbird pics with flaps down, which tells me you are are not very likely to find wartime pics with the flaps down (their often being regulations about it during wartime that warbird operators do not have to obey).

so feel free to drop your flaps - just keep in mind is is probably inaccurate unless you are depicting an aircraft that is coming in for a landing.

That museum plane is just that, Hurri's were parked with the flaps up for the same reasons as Spits

From the pilot notes. Still no reason you can't pose them down!
