Well - I posed this question on few forums in few places already, but nobody answered me - I begun to make a Hobbycraft 1/48 Curtiss H 75Thai Hawk. Comparing it to plans I've found that it looks this model isn't a good copy of the real A/C - the biggest problem is with engine cowling (but I could manage with it a little) and with permanent undercarriage - it has a wrong shape and size. I was trying to find a manufacturer who could make a resin (or styrene) replacement, but, as I discovered, nobody does it. So, as I see, the only way to improve my model is to scratchbuild it. I'm not good enough in it, but I think, I must try. Do you have any idea what kind of material should I use ? Is there a kind of styrene, other plastic, resin, wood or other material I could use to make a template for casting a better undercarriage ? Or perhaps there is a factory (about I didn't hear) which produce replacement parts for this particular model ? I really want to finish it. Regards. Aleksander

I'm having similar issues with a Classic Airframes Re. 2001. The landing struts are basically just L-shaped lumps of styrene rod. I'm trying, for the first time, to make my own landing gear. I've got some small copper tubing, and I'm working with that. At least it will be sturdier than teh plastic.

Thank you thanapol - here is my e-mail: [email protected] or [email protected] (this last address will be ready for few days - I had a computer crash two weeks ago and I have to rebuild it !). If you will have troubles with "mediclub" (sometimes they don't accept bigger posts), please send me pictures on "msk.pl" - I will pick them up later. Thank you again. Regards! Aleksander
