Hi This is the AFV 1/48 F86F, which is the excellent Academy F86F reboxed by AFV, with new decal sheet, so you can make ROCAF Sabers, since I am Taiwanese by birth, so this hold special meaning for me. The ROC Sabers were the first AAM killer in the world, whilst it used AIM-9 to shoot down Chicom Mig-17s
there are 4 huge sink marks on the seat, which I will fix later with white glue or super glue, the seatbelt was used from some spare PE I have
I don't know why I even bother to paint the engine, since I won't be displaying them open, but I guess knowing it's inside is nice.
One question:
If F86D is called Saber Dog
What we should call F86F? Saber F____ ?
#:-)

SS-74 - Nice detailing, as for the engine you know it's there an that's half the fun of the build. "Knowing the secrets of the builder". I have done this many times, detailed parts only I know are there, give you something to talk about when you show it off.

Lord Lens
Please keep us posted as you move through this build.
The cockpit/console detailing looks good (as usual). Your dial/lens treatment is always pretty impressive, as is the engine work.

Except for the D being called Sabre Dog, I've never heard of the F-86 series being referred to as anything but Sabres or Sabre Jets.

Dave a wonderful job so far. However I am starting to dispair at all this good talent being used to build things apart from armor and especially trucks #:-) What a waste

Dave, looks good.
Does this kit have the dolly so you can show the engine exposed?
Here's a reference pic if you need one...lol!

Dave,Have you hought of drops of SG as glass over the instrument faces?
So far the detailing is looking good. You must post pictures when you FIX the 4 knockout indents in the seat.

Carl, good point. Reminded me that I meant to mention that the console may need a tad more dry brushing to really pop out the details.

Looking good Dave! You might want to open up a few panels to display the great engine you got there. That will take some work though

David san;
looking good so far, hope to see the finished kit soon. Did ROC ever use the F-86 for any other mission besides air combat? Was wondering if they had any camouflaged versions for the ground attack mission?
regards,
Lord Jeff San,
ROC also used F86F for a short while in ground attacking role, but also in NMF, and used it for aerobatic team, then Thunder Tiger.
