Hi All

Here's one I finished yesterday. It's an old kit from Dragon of the F4F-4 Wildcat with the option of folded wings and carrier deck in the kit. the kit was nice and easy to build, but the folded wing mountings could have been better. There was nothing to give a positive fitting point.

The paints are mainly Mr Hobby acrylics which are one of the paints that I have used in years. Weathering is done with Promodeller dark dirt wash and chalk pastels.

Looks good. I think I have one of these stashed away somewhere. Can you tell us more about the wing fitting?

Hi All

Thanks for the comments.

To answer Mark's question about the wing fitting. The folded wings are an extra sprue with the carrier deck that's been added to the standard kit. The wing bases to the fuselage are not a perfect fit, so some filing and filling needs to be done. The folded sections do not have any location points for mounting. There is just the hinge on the the end of the folded section and you have to fiddle about to get the position as close as possible. Then there's just the plastic brace from the wing tips to the rear tailplanes.

I remember this:

The proof is left as an exercise for the student.

Well, I guess fore warned is fore armed. I might consider this for the next orgami campaign. Thanks for the update.

Nice job. Where did you get the carrier deck from?

If it's the DML / Dragon kit I've got, it's part of the kit.

I took some new and better photos of the Wildcat the other day and here they are. I've included one of the box so you know which kit is was.

I just picked up the 1/32 Trumpeter this past week and am going to be using your build as inspiration.
