Hi, name's Jacob
I've recently developed an interest in model aircraft...and I'm instantly drawn to the WW1 planes, and a few of the WW2 planes.
I have got a quick question though, 3 kits I would love to do are the
Sopwith Camel (found a kit for that)
http://www.internethobbies.com/ro1so2fcakit.html
S.E.5a (found a kit for that)
http://www.internethobbies.com/ro1rafswsuki.html
And the Morane Parasol - which I'm still searching for...
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Parasol is available as a 1/72 kit anywhere?
Thanks in advance, I look forward to chatting on these forums

Hello,
AZ Model makes/made a Morane Saulnier L. It is a short run kit, but you may find it somewhere, mainly at swap meets.

Cheers :-)
I'll have to keep my eye out...
I've managed the Sopwith - but the wires/ropes...not quite got the hang of them yet...
EDIT: Found one on modelhobbies.co.uk - happy days!

I look forward to being on them :-)
I read elsewhere on this subsection that you were going to do a guide to WW1 aircraft model making? It sounds like it could be very useful for me...

Hi Jacob
Currently on the go is the FE-8 build which is in progress and the wings are being re-done . With that I'm working on a tutorial on wing making , but this has been stall at the moment . School and all is taking up most of my time .
I hope to be back on this soon but in the mean time if you have any questions don't be shy on asking !

Hi JAcob.
I would be careful of trying a limited run kit so early as they can be a PIA for many reasons. I am not saying all of them are but I have horror memories of some High-Planes models I had at one stage. Looked more like blobs of plastic than sprues of parts.
The Academy Sopwith Camel is good in 1/32, and the WNW Se5a is a marvellous kit as well.
A good place to go for hints and tips is listed in one of these forums but I cannot remember where. Basically is called WW1aircraftmodelling.com or something similar. The WNW site has some good hints and tips as well.
Enjoy!!

Hi Jacob
Welcome to the site!
If you have not got an AZ Models Parasol yet, Hannants at hannants.co.uk sell them - I just bought one myself.
Fixing the top wing on securely and straight may not be easy; you may decide to do some easier kits first.
As for the rigging, there are several methods described on site - you can practice the technique on leftover sprue ( the rod things that the kit parts come attached to ).
Google the site for "rigging", that should find you the info you require.
