This is one of my recently started projects, it a 1/48th Roden OV-1D Mohawk. I really didn’t know what to expect while opening the box but I was surprised after so looking over the parts. Detail was soft, crisp and free from flash. My plan was to build this right from the box so I didn’t bother to look for or research it.

There were three decals choices, I choose the 73rd Combat Intelligence Company out of West Germany in 1988. The decals were very glossy and I still had some silvering over a few coats of gloss coats.

My one and only problem was with the multi piece canopy. I had some fit issues seating to fuselage and the left door opening didn’t fit well. Overall it’s a great kit and with a bit more work it would it definitely be a great little kit.

I used Model Masters and Tamiyas acrylic paints, Future Floor Wax, oil wash followed by a coat of dull coat. I’m going to lighten up the base coat and airbrush to bleach out certain areas for a faded look.

More to follow.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

Thanks guys As to the ejection seats well D they are pretty good. I have to say they are worth casting after some minor upgrades like belts and a few bits. The cockpit that needs some work, all the detail is weak and the instrument panel is molded clear I hope to have the wheels and struts added by tonight.

Well it's been awhile since my last posting, but I have finished it. All in all it was a great kit, better than I thought.

Happy Modeling,

Looks great. I learned to work on them when I first entered the Army. Loved the aircraft. Wish I could have gotten a ride in one.

Email me Joe when you get a chance.
