I just came out the hobby shop with this..went in for a book on Albatros's they didnt have. LOL
Now I usually model WW1 A/C so I'm a little out my field here though I did buy and gave up on the trumpy 109E when I realised some of the flaws were huge..wrong cockpit for one!
I know Eduards had some stick over their 109s some deservedly, I'm hoping this kit covers most of those, I just wanted some pointers as to any known issues and also what little goodies might enhance her looks.
things like is the extra brass from eduard worth purchasing
weighted wheel
seatbelts
any cockpit enhancements etc
I intend building her closed, I'm not happy with the detail on the eduard engine and am pretty sure the trumpy one must be underscale to fit (nicely detailed however)
Any input or pointers would be appreciated guys n girls.

Well I started this kit, I have to say that I knew there were issues with it to do with fuselage length etc, though maybe I should have read some more before buying..
Impulse is dangerous LOL
Theres some very odd anomalities in detail especially seeing the wealth of photgraphic evidence on things like handhold and vent locations and sizes.
As I posted earlier I have Trumpies kit which despite its major flaws seems more accurate in some details, so I have pillaged parts from it and used it and other things to cross check. I also found some dreadful warpage in the lower wing section thankfully it was reasonably easy to rectify..or will be I hope but the rear section that juts out under the cockpit was curled upwards over half an inch. That and a good amount of flash which surprised me after working on so many of Eduards 1/48th WW1 ac.
Now though I'm wondering if I should have weighed the balance and gone with the Roden Albi DIII I had in the other hand when in the shop...at least I knew the issues with that kit already.
Anyhow despite everyones seeming lack of interest I've started building and hopefully improving ths kit in my Albatros Werks
Maybe I'll start a blog, not really sure yet tho.

Well I'm interested Keith but I'm afraid I know absolutely ZIP about 109's, so all I can offer is moral support.
How about some pics ??

Hi Keith
Well, I am not interested in 32nd scale so I usually keep out of these threads. If the nose is to long or short or whatever is probably a matter of refs and taste (it was brought up by a guy from Trumpeter here [sic!] ) for my taste the Eduard looks much better that the Trumpy but thats just my personal opinion.
Check the Bf 109 campaign thread there were/are some built . Search here Hyperscale, ARC, MM, Internetmodeler, Cybermodeler and the like for reviews, e.g.

Eduard will bring out an engine in there Brassin line, that looks quite good. As for additional brass ... IMHO eduard is doing some "foul play" there. I have noticed in some 48 scale kits that they omissed some important parts from the kit to sell the additional PE (some of that could also be equally done in plastic, but just is not there) .. not sure this is similar in the 32 scale kit?
HTH a bit
all the best

Hi all again
Well got my head into gear and ploughed on.
Steffen, Thank you for those links, much appreciated.
Yes the Eduard is or should be a better kit, but in areas the Trump is good too. (The cockpit though is a foul up, How they (Trumpeter) got it so wrong is unexplainable. Their Engine is a lovely model worthy of superdetailing but is underscale...maybe a 1/35th accessory for a mil Diorama instead.
*Yes I saw that post a while back from someone at T sniping at E's kit that you refer to...it was unpleasant at best and underhand*
Fuselage size shape etc aside as they both seem to have issues there in different places. I cant believe that thing like the wrong shape fuel filler went unspotted in others builds..Anyway..
I need to send off for a scribing template to move some of the wrongly placed and shaped handholds. fuel filler etc but have got a lot of the major assys together and setting.
And yes I'm in agreement about Eduard and their missing details...thing is it ooften bites them in the bum because another AM maker beats them to get the PE or a better update set out. I'm not a brass for brasses sake builder and if its doable in plastic thats often the route I take.
Thanks Damian I might post pics once I get my camera sorted out with fresh batteries, I have lots to take for my various WWI builds.

make sure to get a set of Radu's amazing seat belts, I'd also pop for a set of brass barrels for the MG17s, they are gorgeous!
