Im doing the great AM TBM Avenger. What bothers me, is that they call for the langing gear assembles and wheel rims to be the same color as the underneath of the plane...Which is flat white....This doesnt seem quite right or is it?

The instructions are correct. On white bottomed USN a/c, the gear was painted flat white. On all gloss sea blue aircraft, generally the gear was painted gloss sea blue. The only natural metal on the gear is the strut oleo or piston, all else is white.

The u/c colour appears to be correct, they were painted in whatever the under surface colour was: grey (early), white or dark sea blue.

This is the example at the Duxford museum.
