does anyone have the 1994 Finescale issue of Modelling the Second World War? i am looking for the article that explains how to paint checkerbord pattern on cowlings. if so, would they be so kind as to email me this article. yeah i know it would be much easier to purchase the decal(s) for this pattern....but i like to do it the hard way

my email: gharlaneATcomcast.net you kno what to do with the AT

any and all info on this matter would be greatly appreciated

I don't have the mag but this is what I do. Hope it helps to a solution.

I painted the cowling checks on this 1/72 camel with careful masking.
Hours to cut and mask, minutes to paint.
A tip would be to find tape the right width as it is quite difficult to cut the tape consistently enough, can be done tho.

Do alternate strips of checks, it save cutting lots of little squares.

Hi william,
Which aircraft and what scale are you looking to paint the checker pattern on?

I do have the article, somewhere, but all my mags are packed away pending a move, so I haven't a clue where it is. I do produce paint masks though and did a trial on a checker board pattern for Hasegawa's P-47, I can also do all the national insignia and codes.
