Well people, she is just about done. My Academy F/A-18 Hornet pics are posted on our MSN site at Armorama. I still have to finish the weathering. But you can see it as she sits now. Hope ya like here.

Doug,
I found this post looking for another post you might have made about your Wild Horse F4 photos. I love those. Is that a decal set or a custom painting job?

I am also amazed no one responded to these photos either. You may want to try the RR forum if you are brave.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim , the Wild Horse was a Revell Germany kit in 1/32 scale. I bought the F-4E Tamiya kit to use for the build. They are decals and a very good set I might add. Had no problem at all putting them down. In the past Revell decals haven't been up to the task. But this set was great. Thanks for the kind words. Mav

Oh yes, for those of you who would know, The Wildcats are the VFA-131, not the 134 as I had posted. My bad, Mav

Merlin, The decals had Super Decal on the back of the sheet. If I'm not mistaken, I had heard they were made in Italy. This is by far the best set of Revell decals I have ever worked with. They quality is every bit as good as Cam, Super Scale, etc. Glad you like it. Mav

Tin -Can , you got your Academy Hornet yet? I just got 4 sets of decals in for the 1/32 Hornets. If you plan to build one and want differnet decals , let me know. I have a second one to build , but haven't dicided on the decals yet. Mav

Nice job on the "Plastic-bug"! I haven't seen one that clean though since the day of our last Change of Command Ceremony down at NAS Lemoore. I've been on the hunt for a big Hornet for the past 10 years, but everyone seems to think that all 18C's are the same and put in "shark-gill" gun gas vents on door #3. I read in the Fine Scale Modeler review of this kit that it had alternate parts for all Charlies. Does it have the heavy pierced mesh screens and other little odds and ends for Lot 15, 16, and later? I was an AT(O)-3 with VFA-137 Kestrals a few years back, and we, along with VFA-151 Vigilantes and VMFA-323 Death Rattelers all had Lot 15 Hornets aboard the Late Great Constellation, CV-64 with CAW-2.

The new Panda 1/32 Hornet had better have things right, since it has Fleet Falcon 413 on the boxcover :-)

BlueBear, Academy's does have the mesh grill for the gun vents. And many different blade antennas. Also it has the 5 long flat ant. for the top of the nose. It's one hell of a kit. As for Panda's offering, I hope the plastic is alittle thinner than their Helo's and the rivit detail not so big and heavy. Go with the Academy, you'll love it. By the way, I usually do dirty aircraft, but every show I have been to for the last 3 years, judges always talking about never seeing a clean one. Well, they got one now. It is supposed to be one that has just been cleaned up and ready for tour, But you can see the landing gear is still dirty. I may do some minor streaking around the flap areas. Mav.

Mav,
Do you know if anyone has decals out for the Kestrals to go on the big Academy bird yet, or will I have to get both it and the Panda to make my Plastic Bug. There was some talk earlier about some sheets, but I don't know what squadrons are included.

BlueBear, I bought some SuperScale decals last week. 4 sets in fact because I was not sure which one I wanted to do next. Lucky you, I have the set that has the VFA-136, VFA-137 and U.S.N. Strike. They are low-vis. E-mail me if you are interested in them. [email protected]

I could make use of one of those, if you're willing to part with it. I get my VA checks in a couple days; give me a p/m with how much and how to get it to you. I'ld like to do "Nuts", our NE 400 in hi-vis, and I think I might be able to find someone with a color copier to do some VooDoo with this sheet as a template and pull it off. Thanks
