I'd read a lot about Gator's Grip adhesive, but only recently got the chance to finally try it out. It will certainly relegate PVA to the sidelines of my workbench, and I'll also use it for some of the tasks I''d traditionally choose CA for.

Hi Rowan
Hmm strange thing. Mine was even a bit less fluid than normal PVA (no wonder it is now, but it was from the beginning) also I have a different style of bottle/label. But I ordered a new one just a few weeks ago as my old bottle nears its end and I wanted one before it gets cold as I have read some bad reports of GG being ruined due to low temperatures ... soooo I will test the new one vs. the old (once it arrives)
all the best

Hey Steffen. I redesigned the label when one of my retailers needed a UPC (bar) code to sell the glue. The bottle is the same. Also, depending on how old your bottle is, I've switched manufacturers on one of the ingredients. The original product was getting too inconsistent with their ingredient. I pay a little more for the new ingredient, but I get a more consistent mix now.

Just an 'Editor's Note' but Dan Buchmeier at The War Shop provided this sample to us for review.
Thanks,
Jim

Looks like I should be picking up a bottle of the new batches?

Thanks for the explanation Kenny!
My comment was not meant as a critique I was just thinking about Rowans remark re tipping over and my bottle surely would not last as long as it did when it could have spilled from the bottle Because of the water(liquid) evaporating it has now a slightly thinner appearance than acrylic gel. In the beginning it was pretty much like the standard PVA glue from a hardware store ... good thing it can be thinned with water which I do often when I glue PE parts flat to plastic surfaces..
all the best

Thanks for the detailed comparison with PVA Rowan. Is Micro Krystal Klear any better than any other PVA glue?
I have been using Krystal Klear for canopies, and I don't like the rubberiness of it- for example, if you have a blob coming out of a joint that you didn't spot when it was wet, or that only appeared after you had left it to dry, and you try to cut/sand it off, you are likely to pull out all the dried glue from the joint at the same time- even it you don't, what you have left is not smooth. In other words, you have to get the smoothing done perfectly before it sets.
I guess Gator's grip is a lot less rubbery? Can you sand it and have a smooth surface afterwards?

Hi again
I got my new bottle today and again it is not liquid/fluid, but a gel. I don't mind that as long as it bonds the parts together but I really find that stange as Rowan feared to tip his bottle over. If I would, that won't be a problem as I would loose nothing from the bottle's contents .... just curious

Hi Steffen
I'll have to add a spill-test to my set of experiments! My sample certainly isn't a gel, and while isn't a thin liquid, it will pour out.
All the best

Hi again Steffen
And the result of the test is... 6 seconds. That's with a basically full bottle, so it should give an idea as to whether yours is the same consistency.

Hi Ben
I've read that it's sandable, but I haven't had a chance to try for myself.
All the best
