Hi,
Just wondering, since when you cut the parts off the sprues or sand parts, you take off some of the chrome, what do you do to restore the chrome? Or do you just spray the model with aluminum or some other silver paint?
Thanks in advance!
Tom

Silver, aluminum, or any other hobby paints will not create the desired chrome effect. I suggest using a spray can. Krylon makes a chrome spray as do several other manufacturers. Anything else would require you to change the chemical composition of your model to a metal infusion. You would then have to apply a copper layer, followed by nickel, and then chrome. This would also involve buffing the chrome.

There are also some chrome silver paint pens that can help with small spot repairs.

I normally paint strip the chrome in bleach while it's on the sprue and then assemble the parts and repaint them using Alclad II's Chrome over a gloss black enamel.
Here's my example of the Alclad Chrome on a bike I built last year.
